To Find Your State Senator
and Representative
- You need to know your zip code+4. If you do not know it:
- Go to http://www.usps.com, the
U.S. Postal Service Web site
- Click on “Find a Zip code” and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Once you know you zip code+4, go to http://www.legis.state.pa.us/
- In the upper right hand corner of the home page for the Pennsylvania General
Assembly is a box labeled “Find Members By.” You can search by
zip code+4 or county. Searching by zip code+4 is the easiest way. Enter your
zip code+4 and click on “Go.”
- You should be presented with the names of both your state
senator and your state representative, as well as the numbers of your state
senate and house
districts.
- Click on a name to be taken to biographical information on that person.
- On the pages of biographical information for state senators, the addresses
of their individual web pages are usually given, along with their email addresses.
These are active links. Click on the web address to go to the state senator’s
web page.
- On the pages of biographical information for state representatives, the
addresses of their personal web pages are usually not given, nor are their
email addresses. To find their personal web pages, go to Google and do a
phrase search
for the name of your state representative. (To do a phrase search, type the
person’s whole name in quotation marks and then click on “Google
Search.”) The state representative’s personal web page will be
one of the first few hits in your result list.
To Find Your United States Senators
- Go to http://www.senate.gov/.
- Go to “Find Your Senators—Choose a State.”
- Choose “Pennsylvania.”
- You will be presented with the names of both of our U.S. senators.
- To go the their web pages, click on their names. These are active links.
To Find Your Representative to the United States House
of Representatives
- Go to http://www.house.gov/.
- Enter your zip code+4 in the boxes under “Find Your Representative” and
click on “Go.”
- You should be presented with the name of your U.S. representative, plus
the number of your Congressional legislative district. The name is an active
link. Click on it to be taken to the personal web page of your U.S. representative
To Find the Official Pennsylvania State Web
site
- Go to Google http://www.google.com.
- Type the phrase “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania”
- Click on “Google Search”
- The first item in the result list should be the official Pennsylvania site.
