Grace Library offers many options for faculty to obtain books and journal articles not owned by Carlow. The two main options are E-Z Borrow for books and RAPID ILL for journal articles. Traditional Interlibrary loan is available for hard to find books and articles. The Borrowing From Other Libraries Research Guide explains all of the options. More than half the student body at Carlow receives information literacy instruction by taught librarians on an annual basis through the CC100 and CC101 courses. Students are instructed in how to search for and evaluate information found in Grace Library.
Additional, assignment-specific, information literacy sessions for your students can be arranged by calling Elaine Misko at 412-578-6137 or emailing the University Librarian, Elaine Misko.
The information literacy classes will be geared specifically to help your students with a particular research assignment. For classes that are under 22 students, the class will be taught in Grace Library 241A.
Make-Up Testing
Grace Library will administer make-up tests to students for faculty. Please read the Policies and Procedures for Make-Up Testing document for more information. The Form needed for Make-Up Test submission to the library is included in the Policies and Procedures document.

Ordering Materials for Grace Library and Liaison System
The library maintains a close working relationship with the Faculty through the Library Liaison System. Each academic department has a Faculty Library Liaison to coordinate the ordering of library materials (books and videos), library communication and information literacy sessions. The Grace Library holdings closely reflect the curriculum and are built through the joint effort of the Faculty and Librarian Liaisons. Comments and recommendations are always welcome from any interested Faculty member. Faculty may also request CD-ROMs and DVDs in addition to book titles for the collection.
For more information regarding the ordering library materials, contact the Coordinator for Technical Services, Karen Goldbach.
Faculty may place library books, videos, periodical articles or personal material on reserve for their courses.
There is a short delay for processing before items placed on reserve are ready for student use; therefore, faculty are encouraged to bring their material in as soon as possible before the semester starts.
The Class Reserve Form (faculty need to only fill out the top section of the Class Reserve Form) along with the materials to be placed on reserve should be dropped off at the circulation desk. The types of reserve are: library use only, 1 day, 3 day or 7 day.
